Bogalusa High School’s Keltron Harry

Bogalusa senior Keltron Harry is a two-sport athlete. Harry plays linebacker and guard on the football team and competes on the golf team. This year, he also plans on competing in powerlifting.
In football, Harry was a second-team all-district player his sophomore season and an all-district honorable mention player last year. Both honors were at linebacker.
“Keltron’s been a guy who has consistently been here all summer long and that’s what we look for,” Bogalusa coach Adam Brumfield said. We look for our seniors to get the other guys involved. Attendance wise in the summer has been an issue at Bogalusa High School, and since I’ve been here, it’s gradually increased and it’s because of guys like Keltron, who are seniors who are doing what they’re supposed to do and also getting other kids to follow them and do what they’re supposed to as well.”
Brumfield also talked about Harry’s play.
“Keltron is a guy you will have to take out of a game because he’s going to play as hard as he can, and right now, he’s starting at middle linebacker for us and he’s also starting at guard. We’re going to try to get him off the field on some special teams to give him a break, but he’s a guy we’ll literally have to take off the field because he’ll run as long as you’ll let him run.”
“You can win a lot of ballgames with a lot of Keltrons. He’s the type of kid you want on your team,” Brumfield added.

What do you enjoy most about playing your sports? Why?
I like playing sports because my friends play sports too and when I watch football on TV, I want to be like them, how they came and played football. I want to be like them when I grow up.

What do you like best about being a student athlete?
The teachers see me on the field and they tell they’ve seen me play on the field and stuff like that and they give me congratulations.

Who has been the most influential person in your school sports career? Why?
Coach Speedy (Butler) because when I was in junior high, he gave me a lot of confidence. I like to play sports. When I was in junior high, I wasn’t going to play in high school, but he encouraged me to play in high school.
Butler is Bogalusa’s junior high coach and he is the assistant running backs coach for the high school team.

Who is your favorite athlete? Why?
(Denver Broncos linebacker) Vonn Miller because I play defense.
