Bogalusa’s Lumberjacks continue with preparations for the football season as they head to Fontainebleau on Aug. 16 to face the Bulldogs in a scrimmage, with the action getting under way at 6 p.m.
“Fontainebleau is a quality 5A team with a lot of numbers, so it will be good competition,” Bogalusa first-year coach Adam Brumfield said. “Hopefully we can evaluate some things and improve. We’ve only got 17 kids returning from last year’s team, so we’ve got a lot new faces. We’re trying to find out who can play what positions.”
The scrimmage will feature plenty of action.
It starts with one-on-one pass rush for about 10 minutes, followed by series of plays with the first stringers. Up next are the punt teams with the second stringers next and then punt/punt returns.
The starters retake the field and then they go into kickoffs and kickoff returns, the second stringers, kickoffs/kickoff returns and then the starters will run four plays from the opponents’ 10.
Field goal teams kick before a break and the scrimmage caps off with a 15-minute quarter with a running clock.
Bogalusa will compete in the Washington Parish Jamboree a week from Friday against Pine. The Lumberjacks will play in the second game. The first game starts at 6 p.m.
Bogalusa will open the regular season Friday, Aug. 31, against Northlake Christian School at home.
