Ben’s Ford Christian School competed in a three-team scrimmage on Friday at Brookhaven Academy.
“It went pretty good,” Ben’s Ford Christian School coach Dean King said. “We definitely have some work to do. Offensive line wise, we are definitely improved. (Quarterback) Tyler (Winstead) had plenty of time to throw. There were times when Tyler had five, six seconds to throw.”
Winstead threw two touchdowns and an interception.
Winstead threw a scoring pass each to Justin Moore and Jordan Provost.
The throw to Moore was for 70 yards. The pass to Provost was on a drag route for 12 yards.
Justin Stewart hit one of his two extra points.
The scrimmage featured three teams, with St. Aloysius of Vicksburg, Miss. as the other.
The Eagles’ defense played a pair teams that feature spread offenses.
“I thought we did pretty good,” King said. “We’re young. I thought as far as tackling and flowing to the football, we did well, but I think in the secondary, as far as covering the passes, I think we need to work on getting into our zones a lot quicker with our linebackers and defensive backs.
“I think we were about a second or two too late and that’s where they were hitting us. I thought the D-line did ok. We let the quarterback get to the edge a couple of times.”
Ben’s Ford is hosting a jamboree Friday.
The Eagles play in the third game of the varsity tripleheader. That contest begins at 8 p.m. The preceding game is Bowling Green School against Baton Rouge CHEF at 7 p.m. The first varsity contest is New Orleans Home School and Acadiana Home School.
