Crew 313, 213 combine for 4 national titles

Four local Venturer crew canoe racing teams captured national championships in the 52nd annual National Invitational White River Canoe Race in Arkansas.
Bogalusa Crew 313 captured the Boys Open Cruising, Boys Advanced Aluminum and the Boys Novice Racing Divisions. Bush Crew 213 is the Girls Open Cruising Racing Division champion.
The 313 Open Cruising Team finished the 120-mile, three-day race in 15 hours, 41 minutes, 27 seconds.
The advanced group tallied a 17:05:42.
Crew 313’s Novice Team clocked a 17:20:27.
Venturer Crew 213’s championship team tallied a time of 16:27:50.
Three more teams took home second place between the two crews.
Crew 213 had a pair of second-place finishes while 313 had one runner-up.
Crew 313’s Boys Novice Team and Beginners Boys Aluminum Team were runner-up.
The 213 second-place groups included the Girls Beginner Team and the Coed Beginner group.
The beginners tallied a 6:59:56, finishing 42:17 behind the Russellville, Ark. Crew 510, which had a time of 6:17:39.
The coed team posted a time of 6:43:15, which was 6:21 from first place. Batesville Crew 320 won the event in 6:36.
Beginners race one leg per day and this is the only year they can participate in this racing division. They have to move up to at least novice.
