Bowling Green comes up short in 2 games to open the season

Bowling Green opened the season with a pair of close losses and pitcher Madelyn Burch was solid in both games.
The Lady Bucs began the 2018 season with a 1-0 loss to Brookhaven Academy on the road Friday.
Burch allowed one run on just one hit with 12 strikeouts and one walk over six innings.
Bowling Green tallied six hits, led by Brianna Tobey, who posted two. Hannah Varnado, Kylee Burris, Allie McCain and Burch had the other hits.
The Lady Bucs played an errorless game.
The second contest was a 2-0 loss to Oak Forest Academy on the road Monday.
Burch had another good game. She allowed two runs — only one earned — on four hits with 10 strikeouts and two walks in six innings of work.
Bowling Green had two hits, as Tobey and Anna Beninato had one each.
The Lady Bucs played their first home game of the 2018 season after Tuesday’s press time.
