Ben’s Ford Christian School’s Eagles will travel to Brookhaven Academy this evening for a scrimmage.
“The main thing is to see improvement,” Ben’s Ford football coach Dean King said. “We’re in the building process and each week we want to see improvement. Brookhaven has a good program going. Coach (Ron) Rushing does a fine job with them. They’re one of the top programs in the state. St. Al is a good football team. We want to see if we can move the football and defend. If we can go in there and play physical, compete and I want to see us move the football and tackle well.”
King said he is looking forward to seeing how his offensive and defensive lines play.
“That’s something we really improved on this offseason. I’m just looking forward to seeing how they play and how much they have improved,” King said.
The scrimmage gets under way at 6 p.m. and will feature three teams. St. Aloysius is the other.
Each team will run plays on offense and defense. The teams will also run five plays each offensively and defensively in goal-line situations.
Ben’s Ford is hosting a jamboree a week from today that will also feature Bowling Green School.
The regular season for the Eagles and Buccaneers will start on Friday, Aug. 17.
Ben’s Ford will host New Orleans Home School, while Bowling Green will travel to Park Place Christian Academy.
