Bowling Green’s Spears playing USSSA All-American Games

Bowling Green freshman Cassidy Spears will be playing in the softball United States Specialty Sports Association All-American Games.
The contests take place at the USSSA Space Coast Complex in Viera, Fla. during the week of June 30 through Aug. 4.
Spears will be playing on the 13U Southeast American Team. Games will begin on Tuesday and they will be streamed live on usssalive.com.
Spears was chosen for the All-American Games as a Direct Select at the Lafayette tryouts earlier this year.
Last season, Spears was first-team all-district player.
Spears tallied a .246 batting average with a .338 on base percentage and a .333 slugging. Spears posted one homer, 18 RBIs and 10 runs scored with two doubles last season.
Besides Louisiana, the USSSA South Region features Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee and South Texas.
Spears is a corner infielder. She also plays first base on the travel ball teams Elite-Gatlin.
Spears is the daughter of Katie and Chad Spears.
