Bogalusa and Franklinton both tallied a 1-1 record in the Lakeshore/Mandeville Summer Basketball League on Thursday.
Bogalusa, which played at Lakeshore, defeated Springfield 52-44 before coming up short to Fontainebleau, 48-44.
Bogalusa coach Randall Ginn said the team got off to a sluggish start against Springfield, but added that the Lumberjacks’ press helped them overcome the start and led them to the win.
Bogalusa jumped out to a 9-0 lead against Fontainebleau, as the team played in back-to-back games, but Ginn said, as expected, their legs faltered in the second half in the four-point loss.
“Our coaching staff was extremely pleased with our effort and enthusiasm (Thursday),” Ginn said. “We haven’t been shooting it well from the outside, however. We need to get some more shots up at practice.”
Franklinton, which played at Mandeville, was victorious over Mandeville, 48-33, but lost to Brother Martin, 58-46.
T.Y. Pope led the team in scoring for the day.
Avant Monnie tallied 14 points in the second game.
Franklinton coach Brad Oestriecher said his team was missing some players because of football and a pair of injuries, but was happy with the way his team competed.
Bogalusa and Franklinton played following yesterday’s press time.
Both teams are back in action tomorrow at Lakeshore.
Bogalusa plays St. Stanislaus at 4 p.m. and Brother Martin at 8 p.m.
Franklinton competes against St. Stanislaus at 7 p.m. and Lakeshore at 9 p.m.
