Mt. Hermon’s Holmes makes it to the podium in state meet

Mt. Hermon School’s Za’byeaus Holmes reached the podium in the Class B state meet that took place Thursday, May 3, at LSU’s Bernie Moore Stadium.
The top three finishers from each event qualify for a spot on the medal podium.
Holmes was third in the 400 meters after running it in 53.05 seconds. Quitman’s Bradley Koonce captured the state title in 51.25.
Mt. Hermon’s 4×200 relay team finished eighth with a time of 1 minute, 40 seconds.
Mt. Hermon’s team featured Tyre Brumfield, Keondre Bunch, Clinton Roux and Treyvon Roberts.
Simboro is the state champion after running a 1:35.
Two females reached state for Mt. Hermon, including Amuriel Williams and Sikoya Jackson.
Williams was eighth in the 100 with a time of 13.70. Episcopal of Acadiana’s Kailie Williams was victorious in 12.53.
Jackson was ninth in Class B for the triple jump, with a distance of 28 feet, 4.25 inches. Castor’s Jalexia Caldwell won at 33-5.
