Milltown Classic running on Saturday

An opportunity to get in a good run or walk combined with competition occurs later on this week.
The 22nd annual Milltown Classic will take place Saturday in Cassidy Park.
The event benefits the Bogalusa Rotary Club.
“It’s a major fundraiser for us,” race director Brad Lewis said. “It’s also a good deal for the city that we put this on every year. Registration starts at 7 and the race begins at 8. We start in Cassidy Park and we finish in Cassidy Park.”
Participants run through a tree-lined subdivision.
One of the goals of Rotary International is to eliminate polio, Lewis said. Locally, the club uses the money to give out scholarships and for other service projects.
Friday is the early registration deadline, which costs $20. The fee goes to $25 for raceday signups. Children 12 and under can register for $7.
Check-in and race day registration is set for 7 a.m. and the race gets under way at 8 a.m.
Those interested can get entry forms at 248 Richmond St. in Bogalusa, or from any Rotary member. They can also visit online at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/bogalusa-rotary-club-milltown-classic-5k-racewalk-tickets-43999295076?aff=ehomecard
Trophies will be awarded for each age group. Age groups are divided every 10 years.
