Local football teams are hitting the field for their spring games that began on Thursday.
The spring games are a win all of the way around for players, coaches and fans.
Players get the chance to compete against an opponent wearing a different jersey and see how they stack up. Coaches have another chance to evaluate where their team is at this juncture. Fans are able to go out and see their team in action and get sort of a preview of what the team will look like going into the 2018 season.
Fans of the teams from Washington Parish will not have to travel for the most part, as just one of the six local football teams leaving Washington Parish for their spring game.
One game took place Thursday and another team is in action today.
Bowling Green School hosted Amite School Center yesterday and Ben’s Ford Christian School is holding a Blue and White intra-scrimmage game today.
Ben’s Ford Christian School’s contest begins at 6 p.m.
The local LSHAA teams start their spring games in just four days.
Varnado is the only local team that is playing outside of Washington Parish, as they head to Independence to face the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15.
A week from Friday, two more games are taking place, featuring three local teams and the locations not far from each other.
Pine is taking on Bogalusa at Pine and Franklinton is hosting Loranger.
The Bogalusa at Pine contest begins at 5:30 p.m. and Franklinton’s home contest starts at 6:30 p.m.
