Mt. Hermon’s Tate is a 1st-team all-district player

A Mt. Hermon School Yellow Jacket is a first-team all-district player for the 7-B league.
Ike Tate is a first-team all-district player for the 2017-18 season.
Two more Yellow Jackets are second-team players that include Device Taylor and George Smith.
The Yellow Jackets’ all-district honorable mention players are Jordan Smith and Za’byeaus Holmes.
This season, Mt. Hermon reached the postseason as the 10th seed. They made it to the regional round, but lost to seventh-seeded Weston, 67-63, in double overtime. Weston was defeated by the eventual state runner up and second-seeded Zwolle, 62-43, in the quarterfinals.
Besides Tate, the rest of the first team was Crescent City players that included Devonta Harris, Jonathan Vaughn, Terrance Smith and Byron Joshua.
Harris is the district’s Most Valuable Player and Crescent City coach Shaun Dumas is the league’s Coach of the Year.
Crescent City reached the Division V state championship game, as the third-seeded team, but lost to top-seeded Jehovah-Jireh, 65-49.
Besides Taylor and Smith, the second team features Runnels’ Cade Tate and Holden teammates Dylan Gueldner and Cole Forbes.
Holden was the 22nd-seeded team in the Class B playoffs, but lost state semifinalists and No. 11 Pitkin, 55-42, in the opening round.
Runnels was a Division V quarterfinalist as the sixth-seed, but suffered a 64-40 setback to Crescent City.
Maurepas was the No. 29 team in Class B, but lost in the opening round to fourth-seeded and state semifinalist Hicks, 86-33.
