Mt. Hermon’s Hughes makes 1st-team all-district

A Mt. Hermon School player made the 7-B league’s top all-district team.
Kalei Hughes is a first-team all-district player for the Lady Jackets.
Two more Mt. Hermon players are all-district players for this season.
Sikoya Jackson is a second-team all-district player.
Patera Williams is an all-district honorable-mention player.
This season, Mt. Hermon reached the playoffs as the 23rd-seeded team, but lost to No. 10 Glenmora, 57-28, in the opening round. Glenmora made the regionals, but lost to seventh-seeded Florien, 81-32.
Holden’s Kaylee Hughes is the District 7-B Most Valuable Player.
In addition to Mt. Hermon’s Hughes, the rest of the first-team includes Holden teammates Kaitlyn Kropog, Amanda Fekete and Jaycee Hughes.
Holden made the postseason as the No. 1 team and won the state title with a 40-39 victory over third-seeded Anacoco.
In addition to Jackson, the second team featured Maurepas’ Keegan Marchand, Holden teammates Victoria Richardson and Taylor Forbes and Runnels’ Sara Crawford.
Maurepas made the postseason as the No. 22 seed, but lost in the opening round to 11th-seeded Quitman, 49-28. Quitman made it to regionals before falling to sixth-seeded Negreet, 67-50.
Runnels reached the quarterfinal round of the Division V playoffs as the sixth-seeded team, but lost to third-seeded Family Community, 52-18. Family Community lost in the semifinal to second-seeded and eventual state champion, No. 2 Christ Episcopal School. Christ Episcopal defeated top-seeded Claiborne Christian, 54-52.
The rest of the all-district honorable mention players are Maurepas’ Laigen Loupe and McKenna Lessard, Runnels’ London Deshotel and Holden’s Shelby Forbes and Emma Hutchinson.
