BHS’s Thompson reaches state

Bogalusa’s Clydeterrious Thompson is headed to the Class 3A state meet after a solid performance in the Region 3-3A Meet that took place at West Feliciana April 25.
Thompson ran the 400 meters in 50.46 seconds for his third-place finish. West Feliciana’s Derius Davis finished in 47.73 to win the event.
Thompson is competing in the Class 3A Meet on Saturday at LSU’s Bernie Moore Stadium. The top three finishers from each event at regionals move on to state.
Bogalusa is the only school in Washington Parish that is Class 3A.
Several other Lumberjacks also competed in the regional meet.
Jared Jackson Jr. was fifth in the 110-meter hurdles in 17.11. St. James’ Shamar Smith won at 15.54.
Thompson and Raheem Roberts finished eighth and 14th in the long jump with distances of 19-3 and 18-3, respectively. De La Salle’s Lance Robinson long jumped 21-9.5 to win.
Thompson was 10th in the 200 after clocking a 24.18. Davis won in 22.12.
Dre’Toris Mark was 10th for the 300 hurdles with a time of 46.94. Smith was the winner in 41.16.
Haikem Thompson tied Sophie B. Wright’s Omar Taylor for 13th in the 800, with both running the race in 2 minutes, 23 seconds. Archbishop Hannan’s Victor Harvey won in 1:58.
Roberts took 14th in the triple jump after recording a 37-3.5. Lusher Charter’s Rylan Theyard won at 44-9.5.
Davin Phillips was 15th in the discus, with a throw of 82 feet, 7 inches. West Feliciana’s Jakob Fudge won at 157-9.
In the relays, Bogalusa was seventh in the 4×400, 11th in the 4×200 and 13th in the 4×100 with times of 3:44, 1:34 and 46.37. The 4×400 team was Jackson, Clydeterrious Thompson, Haikem Thompson and Chadwick Gamble. The 4×200 team featured Jackson, Clydeterrious Thompson, Roberts and Dyling Nelson. The 4×100 runners were Nelson, Mark, Clydeterrious Thompson and Jackson.
Baker won the 4×100 at 41.99, West Feliciana was the 4×200 victor in 1:26 and Lusher Charter captured the 4×400 in 3:26.
West Feliciana won the team competition with 125 points, as 20 teams posted points.
Lusher Charter tallied 78 for second, followed by University Lab’s 64, Baker’s 57 and Jewel Sumner’s 52. Bogalusa and St. Charles Catholic tied for 14th, with eight points each.
In the girls competition, O’Layzha Morris was fourth in the high jump after clearing the bar at 4-10. Academy of Sacred Heart in New Orleans’ Claire Moreau won the event at 5-4.
Jameka Lucas tallied a ninth-place finish for the 300 hurdles after running the event in 57.51. St. James’ Kalyn Martin won in 47.23.
Prayja Bickham posted an eighth-place finish in the javelin after a throw of 77-9. Academy of Sacred Heart’s Claire Moreau won at 125-4.
Prayja Bickham ran 12th in the 200 at 29.74 with Loranger’s Kiana Foster winning in 24.77.
Lucas was 12th in the 100 after running a 14.27. Foster won in 11.88.
In the relays, Bogalusa ran seventh and ninth for the 4×100 and 4×200 respectively with times of 53.05 and 1:53. Both teams had Morris, Bickham, Mary Ladner and Lucas.
Mentorship Academy and Brusly won the 4×100 and 4×200 with times of 49.75 and 1:44.
Academy of Sacred Heart won the team competition with 113 points, as 21 teams posted points.
West Feliciana was second at 98, followed by St. James’ 59, Lusher Charter’s 52 and Brusly’s 51. Bogalusa tied Haynes Academy for 16th, with four points each.
