Several Franklinton tennis players headed to state

Five Franklinton tennis players are headed to next week’s state tournament in Monroe, after reaching at least the quarterfinals in the regionals.
The group features a doubles team and three singles players.
The doubles’ team of Mackenzie Angelo and Abby Thomas made it to the state tournament.
They reached the elite eight. They won the round of 32 in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. The next match was a 6-4, 5-7, 10-5 victory. They lost in the elite eight, 6-0, 6-0.
The three singles players are Yvone Tran, Josh Gubert and Jacob Smith.
Those three made it to the quarterfinals.
Tran won her sweet 16 match, 6-1, 6-0. She lost in the quarterfinals, 6-0, 6-0.
Gubert captured his sweet 16 match, 4-6, 6-3, 11-9. The quarterfinals was a 6-2, 6-3 loss.
Smith won his sweet 16 match by forfeit. He lost the following match, 6-1, 6-0.
The state tournament is Monday at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
Also for Franklinton, the doubles team of Morgan Mills/Taylor Cosse won their round of 32 contest, 6-0, 6-2, but lost the sweet 16 match, 6-0, 6-1.
Keaton Catret/Austin Thomassen were victorious, 6-1, 6-2 in the round of 32, but were defeated in the sweet 16, 6-0, 6-0.
The teams of Jaylin Garrett/Daylin Garrett and Raif Branch/Aaron Ignacek had a bye in the round of 32.
Garrett/Garrett lost in the sweet 16 doubles, 6-0, 6-0 while Branch/Ignacek were defeated in their sweet 16 match, 6-1, 7-6.
In singles, Gabby Webb lost in the sweet 16 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
