Demons go 3-0 against Pearl River

Franklinton won all three games against Pearl River that took place on Tuesday and Thursday in District 8-4A competition.
The Demons won both ends of a doubleheader on Tuesday, 3-0 and 4-3, at home.
Garrett Maxwell threw a complete game shutout in the opening game of the doubleheader.
Maxwell carried a no hitter over the first 5-1/3 innings. He ended up allowing just two hits with eight strikeouts and four walks.
Richard Berry tallied hits in each of his two at-bats. Berry scored a run and put down a sacrifice bunt.
J.P. Magee and Jared Jenkins drew two walks and drove in a run each.
Wyatt Verret walked, got hit and posted an RBI.
Jalen Burkhalter got hit twice and drove in a run.
Ashton Cocoran scored a run.
In the second contest, Jenkins recorded the win and Verret picked up the save. At the plate, both players went went 2-for-3. Jenkins got hit by a pitch. Verret drew a walk and drove in two runs.
Berry singled twice and scored a run.
Magee recorded a hit, a walk, a stolen base and he scored two runs.
Varnado posted a hit, he got hit by a pitch and drove in a run.
Zavion Magee and Cocoran both singled for Franklinton.
The Demons won Thursday’s game, 5-3, in 11 innings at Pearl River.
Varnado recorded three hits, walked and drove in two runs.
Berry singled twice, walked and drove in a run.
J.P. Magee scored three runs, walked and put down a sacrifice bunt.
Verret got hit by a pitch twice and put down a sacrifice bunt.
Jenkins had a hit, put down a sacrifice bunt, scored a run and drove in one.
Nate Bracey tallied a hit, a sacrifice bunt, a run and an RBI.
Burkhalter doubled.
Raisean Hart singled and scored a run.
Verret was the winning pitcher in relief with a solid outing. Verret threw 4-1/3 shutout innings of one-hit ball. He struck out five and walked one, which was intentional.
Bracey started and was solid as well, throwing 6-2/3 innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits with five strikeouts and two walks (one intentional).
