Lady Demons capture extra-inning victory over Pearl River

Franklinton’s Bailey Brooks broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth inning with an RBI double that plated Ashlyn Ard with the go-ahead and eventual winning run in the eighth inning of Thursday’s 2-1 victory over Pearl River in District 8-4A competition on the road.
Brooks and Ard accounted for two of Franklinton’s three hits.
Brooks had the RBI double and Ard scored both of the Lady Demons’ runs
Keirsten Allen had the other hit, which was a single.
Pitcher Aleigha Fussell was solid. She threw all eight innings and allowed just one run on six hits with four strikeouts and four walks.
Franklinton took a 1-0 lead through one inning. Pearl River tied the game at 1-1 in the third. The game stayed even 1-1 until the eighth when Brooks broke the tie with her RBI double.
