Franklinton hangs on for home victory

Franklinton’s Demons hung on for a 10-9 victory over Covenant Christian Academy after CCA had a big seventh-inning in a game held Thursday at home.
The Demons led 10-2 through six innings. Covenant Christian posted seven runs in the seventh, but Franklinton won by a run.
The Demons led 6-1 through five innings. Covenant Christian trimmed it to 6-2 in its half of the sixth, but the Demons responded with four runs in their portion of the frame and they proved to be big.
Richard Better, Wyatt Verret and Nate Bracey all posted two hits. Berry doubled, scored three runs and stole a base. Verret tallied two runs and drove in a pair of runs. Bracey scored a run, posted two RBIs and stole a base for the Demons.
J.P. Magee, Trent Varnado and Ashton Cocoran all had one hit. Magee was hit by a pitch, walked, scored two runs and put down a sacrifice bunt. Varnado drove in two runs. Cocoran tallied a run.
Landon Keller posted a run for the Demons.
Winning pitcher Bracey allowed one earned run on four hits with seven strikeouts, three walks and two hit batters over four innings of work.
Verret picked up the save after allowing an unearned run on a hit in 1/3 of an inning.
