“Whenever you go to state, a lot of the weights they’ve done are kind of set in stone, so if a young man moves up one spot (in the seedings based on regionals), they’ve had a great meet,” Franklinton coach John Lambert said. “We had a few guys that moved up spots in state. We had three young men that went as freshmen last year, but got injured during football season. We would love to finish in the top three, but our kids did the best they could do. Our seniors are sad that it’s over.”
Garza moved up from sixth to fifth. Thompson went from eighth to fifth. Givens went as an alternate and moved from 10th and eighth.
Garza, Thompson and Hensley are the seniors.
Lambert said the team has a lot of competitors coming back next year.
Assumption’s Nicholas Duet is the Outstanding Lifter for the Light Platform (114-165 weight classes) while Tioga’s James Curtland is the Outstanding Lifter in the Heavy Platform (181-super heavyweight).
Assumption won the team competition with 43 points, as 17 teams posted points.
