Pine’s McKenzie wins golf competition

Pine’s Tanner McKenzie was victorious and teammate Brent Barber finished third at Carter Plantation in a nine-hole golf competition held Tuesday.
McKenzie carded a 39 to win the event by a stroke over St. Thomas Aquinas’ Tim Tran.
Barber posted a 45 to take third.
Pope John Paul II’s Jack Legion was fourth with a 47 and Springfield’s Ben Gainey rounded out the top five with a 47, as the event featured 19 golfers.
Also for Pine, Jarvis Robinson posted a 69 and McCauley Keaton had a 71.
The Raiders also won the team competition a score of 224.
The top four golfers from each team are used to determine team scores. Three schools qualified for team honors.
Pine won by five strokes over Doyle and Springfield was third with a 246.
Two golfers competed in the girls’ competition, both from Pine.
Dalanna Rester won with a 70, and Breelee Barber posted a 72.
