Franklinton went 3-0 in tournament last weekend

Franklinton’s Demons posted a 3-0 record in the 2018 Franklinton High School Tournament that took place last Thursday through Saturday at Franklinton and Pine.
The tournament featured three local teams in Pine and Varnado. Pine went 1-2 while Varnado was 0-2.
The Demons, who played all of their games at FHS, won their opener, 12-0, over Jewel Sumner on Thursday.
Wyatt Verret and Trent Varnado recorded two hits each.
Verret scored a run and drove one run in. Varnado scored three runs.
Richard Berry, Ashton Cocoran, J.P. Magee, Jordan McKenzie and Raisean Hart all had one hit.
Berry scored two runs. Cocoran drove in a pair of runs and scored one. Magee doubled and posted an RBI. McKenzie drove in two runs and scored one. Hart drove home two runs.
Winning pitcher Jared Jenkins threw four innings of shutout ball, with eight strikeouts and a walk.
Noah Breland threw one inning, allowing no runs with a walk and a strikeout.
Franklinton topped Walker, 2-1, the following day.
Nate Bracey delivered a two-run single in the sixth inning after Cocoran walked and Verret recorded a hit.
Bracey and Garrett Maxwell were solid on the mound.
Bracey, the winning pitcher, allowed no runs on five hits with three strikeouts and no walks over three innings.
Maxwell gave up just one run, struck out five and walked one in four innings of work.
The final game was a 13-3 win over Varnado on Saturday.
Berry and Hart recorded a pair of hits each. Berry scored two runs and drove in one. Hart had three RBIs for the Demons.
Cocoran, Verret, Magee and Landon Keller all had one hit.
Cocoran doubled, scored two runs and drove in two. Verret tallied two runs. Magee scored a run.
The Raiders went 1-2.
Pine, which played all of its games at Pine, lost to Pearl River, 10-1, in Thursday’s opener.
Kendall Sheridan, Kaden Fersch, Luke Fonda, Cory Barber and Ian Turner all had a hit.
Barber drove in the Raiders’ run, which was scored by Turner.
Pine defeated Varnado, 15-5, in five innings on Friday.
Fersch, Turner and Barber had two hits.
Fersch drove in a run and tallied one. Turner posted two RBIs and scored a run. Barber recorded a run scored.
Ethan Knight, Kendall Sheridan, Fonda, Dakota Brooks, Triston Jones, Dallen Magee and Logan Leger all had one hit.
Knight scored a run and had an RBI. Sheridan tallied a run. Fonda doubled, scored two runs and drove in a pair of runs. Brooks had a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Jones doubled, drove in a run and scored a run. Magee and Leger had an RBI each.
Coby Sheridan scored two runs while Blaine Polk and Karson Voth posted a run each.
Varnado recorded nine hits with two apiece coming from Zantonio Peters, Armontee Kemp, Christian Matthews and Korterrious Mingo.
Peters and Kemp scored two runs each. Both of Matthews’ hits were doubles. He drove in three runs and scored another. Mingo doubled and drove in two runs.
Kim McGowan recorded a hit for Varnado.
Pine came up short to Walker, 5-2, in the final game of the tournament on Saturday.
