The Bogalusa Community Early Childhood Network Team recently held its annual pre-enrollment and information campaign at the Bogalusa Branch Library. It was also the annual DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) Day.

The centers included in hosting the event were Agape Learning Center, Bogalusa Head/Early Start, Byrd Avenue Primary and Sandy’s Kidz Learning Center. Parents were given information about each facility, so that they were able to make an informed decision regarding which facility they would like for their child to attend.

All facilities are using the same evaluation systems for students (GOLD by Teachstone) and Teachers (C.L.A.S.S.). According to Performance Profile Scores issued by the Louisiana Department of Education, all centers in the Bogalusa Network are “Proficient” and above.

Other community organizations also contributed to the event, to give families information about ways they can be of service to them. Those organizations included Agenda for Children, Healthy Blue, BCS Childsearch, United Way, Bogalusa Branch Library, and Early Steps.

The Network Team gives a special thanks to the Bogalusa Branch Library for the use of their facility and refreshments, Mrs. Pauline and the BCS Child Nutrition Program for providing bagged lunches to parents and students, and Bogalusa High School volunteers from Student Council and National Honors Society.

Official registration begins on March 19. Registration packets can be picked up at any of the facilities in the Network Team. Families will need a birth certificate, social security card, current shot record, proof of income, and proof of residence in order to register their child.

Families are asked to bring those documents when they come to the Bogalusa School Board Office to register for a program. For further information regarding registration, families may call 985-281-2100.
