Franklinton’s Lady Demons tallied a 1-1 record in the Albany Tournament that took place Saturday.
The Lady Demons lost in the first game, 11-0, to Doyle in five innings.
Franklinton posted four hits on singles by Ashlyn Welch, Bailey Spears, Sydney Wills and Missouri Varnado.
Five Franklinton errors led to nine unearned runs.
The Lady Demons rebounded with a 4-2 victory over French Settlement.
Welch and Spears recorded three hits each.
Both drove in a run and scored a run. One of Spears’ hits was a double.
Ashlyn Ard went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Brylie Fowler, Kiersten Allen and Varnado all had one hit.
Fowler and Varnado scored a run each. Varnado tripled.
Winning pitcher Aleigha Fussell threw a complete game, allowing no earned runs on two hits with five strikeouts and four walks. The Lady Demons committed four errors.
Franklinton scored one run each in the first four innings. French Settlement’s runs came in the fourth and sixth innings.
The Lady Demons then split games held on Monday and Tuesday.
On Monday, Franklinton lost to St. Charles Catholic, 8-2, on the road.
The Lady Demons had five hits.
Allen went 2-for-3 with a double.
Ard, Varnado and Bailey Brooks posted a hit each. Ard tallied a run and drove in a run and Varnado recorded an RBI.
Fowler scored a run.
Franklinton rebounded from the loss with a 10-1 victory over Jewel Sumner on Tuesday.
Fowler recorded two hits that included a double and she scored two runs.
Welch, Spears, Allen, Wills and Brooks all had one hit. Welch tallied two runs. Spears posted a run and drove in a run. Allen had two RBIs. Wills doubled, posted two runs batted in and she scored a run. Brooks doubled and drove in two for the Lady Demons
Ard scored two runs while Varnado and Laynea Stafford tallied one.
Winning pitcher Fussell threw a complete game, allowing one unearned run on three hits with six strikeouts and a walk.
