Raiders begin season 2-1, Mt. Hermon starts 1-1

Pine opened the 2018 baseball season by winning two of its first three, while Mt. Hermon went 1-1 in its first two games.
The Raiders lost their first game of the year to Pearl River, 8-2, on the road Monday.
Pine had three hits on singles by Kendall Sheridan, Kaden Fersch and Ethan Knight. Sheridan scored a run and drove in a run.
Cory Barber had an RBI and Blaine Polk tallied a run for the Raiders.
Pine defeated Mt. Hermon, 15-6, on the road the following day.
Mt. Hermon led 6-5 through three innings. Pine scored twice in the fourth to go up 7-6 through four and then added five more in the fifth, a run in the sixth and two in the seventh to open the lead.
Coby Sheridan had a big game, going 5-for-5. He drove in three runs and scored a run.
Kendall Sheridan also had a solid game, going 2-for-2 with a triple, a pair of walks and four runs.
Fersch, Knight, Ian Turner, Dakota Brooks, Logan Leger and Devan Whaley all tallied one hit.
Fersch drove in two runs and scored three runs. Knight recorded two RBIs. Turner doubled and scored a run. Brooks tripled and drove in a run. Leger tallied a run for the Raiders. Whaley drove in a run.
Luke Fonda posted three runs in the win.
Whaley was the winning pitcher. He threw three scoreless innings of three-hit ball. Whaley struck out four and walked two.
Mt. Hermon’s Byron Hyatt went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, a walk and a stolen base.
Clinton Roux tallied a hit, two walks, two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base.
Pine made it two in a row with a 10-3 win over Bogalusa at home Thursday.
The Raiders had seven hits.
Fersch and Knight tallied two each.
Fersch drove in two runs and scored a run. Knight tallied a run and posted an RBI for the Raiders.
Kendall Sheridan, Coby Sheridan and Brooks had one hit each. Coby Sheridan scored a run. Brooks tripled, scored three runs and had a run batted in.
Polk recorded two runs and drove in one while Turner and Will Adams scored a run each.
Kendall Sheridan was the winning pitcher. He allowed one unearned run in four innings with two strikeouts and a walk.
Bogalusa posted six hits led by Jay Baham, who had two hits including a double and two runs scored.
Kameron Bickham, Chas Smith, Talik Williams and Anthony Forbes all had one hit.
Smith had an RBI.
Charles Allen scored a run for the Lumberjacks.
Mt. Hermon began the season with an 18-1 victory over Independence on the road Monday, behind a solid pitching and hitting performance by Colby Smith.
On the mound, Smith threw a complete game, allowing just one hit. He struck out 14, walked two and hit two batters.
Offensively, Smith went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, drove in four runs, scored two runs and got hit by a pitch twice.
Trent Wilson went 2-for-4. He doubled, drove in two and scored a pair of runs.
Kenley Curole tallied two hits, a run and a pair of RBIs.
Trey Brumfield had one hit, three RBIs and walked three times.
