Franklinton successful in golf week opener

Franklinton’s boys and girls were victorious and each team had a golfer win individual honors in the first week of the Northlake Golf League that took place Tuesday at Oak Knoll Country Club.
The Demons won the boys competition with 183.
Lakeshore was second at 207, followed by Salmen’s 212 with three teams qualifying for team honors.
Squads needed four golfers to qualify for team scores.
Franklinton’s Dillen Reeves won the overall nine-hole competition with a 44.
Three players tied for second, including Franklinton’s Brett Bryant and Caleb Mizell along with Salmen’s Nick Himber, as all three carded a 45. Lakeshore’s Cody Moore posted a 47 to round out the top five with a field of 17 golfers.
Franklinton’s Grant Thomas posted a 49 and teammate Skylar Theibeau tallied a 72.
The Lady Demons won the girls team competition with a 133 in a close finish, as Pearl River was just four strokes behind for second.
Schools needed two golfers to qualify for team honors.
Hannah Grace Henn won the individual competition with a 62.
Pearl River’s Sophie Lee was second at 65 and Franklinton’s Mallory Pittman was third at 71. The field featured six golfers.
Franklinton’s Madeleine Burris, Franklinton’s Katherine Haik and Pearl River’s Haley Miles all recorded a 72.
