Trio of local teams reach LHSAA boys basketball playoffs

Basketball takes center court this week, as the LHSAA boys’ basketball playoffs begin.
Three teams from Washington Parish, Franklinton, Mt. Hermon and Varnado made the postseason.
Mt. Hermon is hosting a bi-district round game in the Class B state playoffs Friday at 6:30 p.m. The Yellow Jackets are the 10th-seeded team and tallied a 20-8 record in the regular season. They are facing No. 23 Lacassine (9-24). The winner faces either seventh-seeded Weston (20-12) or No. 26 Choudrant (8-25).
Franklinton and Varnado are both on the road for their bi-district round games.
In Class 4A, No. 31 Franklinton is headed to Bossier. Franklinton enters with an 18-10 record. Bossier is 26-6. The victor goes against either No. 15 Bastrop (19-8) or 18th-seeded McDonogh 35 (17-14).
Varnado is in the Class 1A postseason as the 23rd-seeded team and is going against No. 10 Jonesboro-Hodge at 6 p.m. Friday. Varnado begins the postseason with an 11-11 record. Jonesboro-Hodge enters at 13-10. The winner faces either No. 7 Lincoln Preparatory School (14-12) or 26th-seeded Montgomery (11-12).
