Bowling Green’s Lady Buccaneers finished in second place at the South AAA Basketball Tournament that took place last week at Adams County Christian School.
After wins over Silliman Institute and Central Hinds Academy, 44-31 and 41-40 on Monday and Wednesday, respectively, the Lady Bucs reached the championship game with a 35-32 victory over Adams County Christian School on Friday.
Callie Seal led the team in points with 15 to go with six rebounds and four steals.
Hallie Robertson posted seven points, three boards, two assists and three steals
Cailee Fruge and Bridget Devall posted four points each.
Fruge pulled down five rebounds, dished out an assist and made five steals. Devall grabbed three boards and tallied two steals.
Kyley Seals had three points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Allie McCain recorded two points, three rebounds, four assists and a steal.
KaKa Seal had two rebounds and a steal while Anna Claire Crowe added a rebound in the win.
The put Bowling Green in the title game against Hillcrest Academy.
The Lady Buccaneers lost that game, 49-29, to finish second.
Callie Seal recorded 20 points to lead Bowling Green. She also pulled down six rebounds, dished out two assists and made two steals.
Fruge tallied four points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals
Crowe posted three points and two rebounds.
Seals had two points, six boards and two assists.
Hallie Robertson and Anna Beninato pulled down a rebound and made a steal while Devall pulled down two boards, recorded two assists and made a steal, Hallie Creel grabbed a rebound and Seal and McCain added a steal each.
Three Lady Buccaneers made the South State All-Tournament team including Fruge, Robertson and Callie Seal.
The second-place finish allowed the Lady Bucs advance to the Class AAA Tournament, as the top four teams advance.
Bowling Green is back in action this evening against North Delta School at 6:30 p.m. in the Class AAA Tournament at Columbia Academy.
The top three teams advance from this tournament to the overall tourney.
