Bogalusa’s Lady Jacks fell to Loranger, 77-39, in the bi-district round of the Class 3A state playoffs.
Shaunte Chatmon posted 15 points and Bianca Pittman had 10 points.
This season, Bogalusa had two seniors in Chatmon and Pittman.
“I appreciate the seniors,” Bogalusa coach Jarvious Grayson said. “They helped us get to the playoffs. They showed their teammates it could be done. We had a young team.”
Grayson credited freshman Mary Ladner for a solid defensive effort.
Grayson said the team had a great run.
“I’m proud of my girls finishing strong,” Grayson said. “We achieved our goal we set back in July, when I was hired. That was to establish a culture of winning basketball, compete hard every night, and make the playoffs. I didn’t have the full offseason to work with the girls on the fundamentals of basketball, but they gave me their very best. For that reason, I’m grateful.”
Bogalusa, which was the 31st-seeded team, finished 9-15 this season.
Second-seeded Loranger, which improved to 21-7 this year, moved on to face No. 15 Jennings in the regional round. Jennings has a 16-10 record and defeated No. 18 Caldwell Parish (23-12), 68-51, in the opening round.
