Franklinton’s Lady Demons are hosting the 2018 Washington Parish Softball Jamboree, as softball season opens unofficially today.
The event gives fans a preview of their teams for the upcoming season.
Games have a one-hour time limit and no new innings will begin after 50 minutes.
Four contests are set with the opener at 2:30 p.m. and games start every 75 minutes.
The first game is between Franklinton at Pine.
Mt. Hermon and Varnado play in the second contest with Pine and Varnado in the third game, which is set for 5 p.m. They are followed by Franklinton and Mt. Hermon.
Franklinton reached the Class 4A state playoffs as the 25th-seeded team, but lost to No. 8 and regional round team Beau Chene, 11-1.
Pine was the No. 29 seed in Class 2A, but lost in the first round to fourth-seeded and state champion Mangham, 15-0.
Mt. Hermon made the postseason in Class B as the 20th seed, but lost in the opening round to No. 13 and regional round team, Negreet, 11-0.
