Lady Buccaneers advance in South State

Bowling Green’s Lady Buccaneers were victorious in the first two games of the 2018 South AAA Tournament at Adams County Christian School on Monday and Wednesday.
Bowling Green opened the tournament by defeating Silliman Institute, 44-31.
Cailee Fruge and Callie Seal led the Lady Buccaneers in points with 15 each.
Fruge had a double-double with her 15 points and she pulled down 10 rebounds. Fruge also had an assist and a steal.
Seal pulled down four boards, dished out two assists and made three steals.
Kyley Seals recorded five points, four rebounds, an assist and two steals.
Hallie Creel had four points.
Hallie Robertson posted three points, five assists and she made three steals.
Allie McCain tallied two points, two boards, an assist and two steals.
Bridget Devall pulled down a rebound and dished out an assist.
In Wednesday’s game, Seal hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the game to overtime and hit a game-winning free throw in overtime, helping the Lady Bucs to a 41-40 victory over Central Hinds Academy.
Seal had 20 points, six rebounds, an assist and five steals.
Robertson posted seven points, four boards, two assists and three steals.
Seals and McCain put up five points each. Seal pulled down 10 rebounds, dished out an assist and made four steals. McCain grabbed four boards and recorded a steal.
KaKa Seal posted four points and two rebounds.
Fruge tallied six rebounds, four assists and three steals while Devall posted an assist and two steals in the Lady Buccaneers’ victory.
Wednesday’s victory meant that Bowling Green will finish in at least the top four in the South State Tournament and has advanced to the Class AAA Tournament at Columbia Academy. That tournament will begin next week.
Bowling Green continues play in the tournament this evening at 5:15 p.m. It will be against either Park Place or Adams County Christian School. That game was played after press time yesterday.
