VHS’s Kimble captures his weight class

Varnado’s Chris Kimble was victorious in the 148-pound weight class at the Randy Johnson Invitational Powerlifting Meet on Saturday at St. Thomas Aquinas.
Kimble combined to lift 960 pounds of weight among the squat, bench and deadlift. Kimble squatted 360, benched 205 and deadlifted 395. Varnado’s Jacorrius Bickham was fifth with a 755 total. Bickham posted a 245 squat, 235 bench and 275 deadlift. The second-place finisher was Holy Cross’ Carter Hoang, who had an 850.
Franklinton’s Randy Garza was third in the 123s with a 490 total. Garza squatted 150, benched 135 and deadlifted 205. Northshore’s Nicholas Parks won the weight class with a 730.
Three locals were in the 165s. Franklinton’s Stevie Thompson was third while teammate Wyatt Hensley took sixth and Varnado’s Darien Vargas was ninth in the 22 participant weight class. Thompson had a 990 with a 330 squat, 250 bench and a 410 deadlift. Hensley posted a 910 after squatting 340, benching 220 and deadlifting 355. Vargas was at 850 with a 290 squat, 205 bench and a 355 deadlift. Northshore’s Ethan Rudiger was the winner with a 1,275.
Franklinton’s Christopher Sumarall was 15th in the 198s with a 545. Sumarall squatted 165, benched 130 and deadlifted 250. Teammate Malachi Martin had a 185 bench and 355 deadlift while Drake Jenkins benched 205 and deadlifted 330. Lakeshore’s Terry Honora was the winner with a 1,325 for total weight.
Franklinton’s Spencer Lambert was third in the 220s with a 935. Lambert posted a 375 squat, 185 bench and 375 deadlift. Teammate Jeremy Richardson benched 185 and deadlifted 380. Archbishop Hannan’s Shane Dalmada was the winner with a 1,115.
Varnado’s Brandon Lee took seventh in the 242s. Lee had a 325 squat, 225 bench and 365 deadlift. Franklinton’s Josh Gubert deadlifted 425. Archbishop Hannan’s Michael Morel was the winner with 1,190.
Franklinton’s Dakota Gulsby, who is in the 275s, benched 200 and deadlifted 385. Holy Cross’ Maurice Robichaux was the weight class’ winner at 1,185.
Franklinton’s Mason Givens took third in the super-heavyweight division with an 890. Givens squatted 275, benched 230 and deadlifted 385. Teammate Cecil Tribe squatted 390 and benched 235. Fontainebleau’s Christian Corkern won with a 1,255.
