Bowling Green School’s Hannah Creel has signed a letter of intent to attend Mississippi College and play softball.
Creel said she had other offers and decided on Mississippi College.
“July this past summer, I had to commit. It was between Mississippi and Harding (in Arkansas). I was about to commit to Harding, but I had a change of heart and decided on Mississippi College. Both of my parents went there, it was familiar and it was the best fit overall,” Creel said.
Creel said she is excited about her decision.
“I am very happy. I love the coaching staff and the girls on the team. I’m anxious because I don’t know what to expect, but I am excited,” Creel said.
Creel, who was in her first year at Bowling Green, put a solid season together this year. Creel finished with a 1.23 ERA and a 0.75 WHIP (walks plus hits divided by innings pitched) in 15 games — including 10 starts — covering 68 innings. Creel allowed 40 hits and struck out 93 while walking just 11.
Creel was a first-team all-district player for 4AAA. Creel also was an MAIS all-Star.
This season, Bowling Green posted a 12-8 record and missed advancing to the Class AAA Tournament by a run after a five-run comeback came up short in a 5-4 loss to Porter’s Chapel in the South State Tournament.
Creel plans on majoring in biology and going to medical school.
