Bowling Green names new football coach

Bowling Green School has named Gary “Boomer” Nunez its new head football coach.
Nunez is a native of Chalmette and alumnus of Northshore High School in Slidell. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Southeastern Louisiana University.
As a coach, Nunez has recently served as the defensive coordinator at the quarterfinalist St Thomas Aquinas Falcons.
Prior to his time at St. Thomas Aquinas, he served as an assistant football and baseball for the state runner-up St. Charles Catholic Comets for two years. Prior to St Charles Catholic, Nunez served as defensive coordinator and head baseball coach at Archbishop Hannan for eight years.
Nunez’s coaching philosophy reflects his commitment to student athlete formation and to create a positive, team oriented environment where players achieve success through hard work, dedication, discipline and pride.
Nunez is married to Kim Nunez of Carriere, Miss., who is the head softball coach at Mandeville High. They have a one-year old, Karleigh.
