Franklinton’s Tahj Magee verbally committed to attend Louisiana Tech University and play for the Bulldogs.
“The opportunity to go there and play football is a great one — to go to the next level and go up there and represent the town of Franklinton and show what we have here,” Magee said.
Magee said he was looking at several schools and kept all of his options open because they all have something to offer.
One of things he liked about Louisiana Tech is the camaraderie the team seems to have.
“Those guys are close,” Magee said. “It was like a brotherhood once I stepped on campus. The coaches sold me too. It’s like family. You’re not just a player, they treat you like you’re their child or their brother.”
Magee, who played mostly quarterback at Franklinton, said he will be a wide receiver at Louisiana Tech.
“Being able to make that position change, that’s something I’ve always wanted play. I got that opportunity in junior high and a little bit in high school because of the injury,” Magee said. “I like being able to read coverages and going one-on-one.”
This season, Magee threw for 1,157 yards with 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
He ran for 1,112 yards and 11 scores. Magee caught eight passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns.
La. Tech is 6-6 this season and plays in the DXL Frisco Bowl in Texas against SMU on Dec. 20.
Magee said he plans on majoring in sociology.
