FHS Lady Demons compete in state meet

Franklinton’s Lady Demons ran in the Class 4A state meet at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches on Tuesday, Nov. 14.
Yvon Tran was the Lady Demons’ top runner. She completed the three-mile race in 25 minutes, 50 seconds, for 117th place.
Teammate Emily Lopez was 153rd at 25:25 while Kayleigh Penton was 162nd in 33:00 and Dawn Kehoe ran a 34:47 for 166th.
St. Scholastica Academy’s Molly McHale was the 2017 Class 4A state champion after running an 18:27 and winning by just over 10 seconds over Carencro’s Chantaya Griffin.
St. Michael the Archangel’s Hailey Humpries was third at 19:08, followed by Vandebilt Catholic’s Caroline Lindsay’s 19:18 and E.D. White’s Abbey Marie Ratcliff’s 19:20, in a field of 166.
St. Michael won the team competition with 50 points.
E.D. White was second at 78 points, followed by Vandebilt Catholic’s 88, St. Scholastica Academy’s 89 and Belle Chasse’s 133.
