Williams honored as Scholar of the Week for Friday Night Football
Varnado quarterback James Williams was recently honored as WGNO 26’s Scholar of the Week for Friday Night Football.
Franklinton baseball, softball Field of Dreams
Franklinton High School’s baseball and softball teams are hosting the Field of Dreams Extravaganza on Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Ten-Ten Club at 1010 Bene St. in Franklinton.
The cost is $75 per couple. The event will feature a silent auction, beginning at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:45 p.m. and live auction at 7:30 p.m.
Money raised will be used to help Franklinton’s baseball and softball programs. The baseball team is looking to enclose their batting cages. The softball team is looking refurbish the backstop.

USM Fall Showcase
The Southern Miss baseball’s Fall Showcase Game takes place Sunday, Nov. 19 at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.
Camp begins at noon with sign-in beginning at 11 a.m. It provides a great opportunity for players ranging from high school freshman to junior college sophomores (junior college freshmen must be academic qualifier). Participants will be given a chance to have their skills toned by college coaches receive specific instruction to their defensive position, speed training to improve their 60 time, as well as hitting at Pete Taylor Park. Any pitcher who is a dual player will be able to participate at both positions. Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt. Lunch will not be provided.
The camp will be limited to the first 100 applicants and the cost is $155 per camper.
Camp registration for all Southern Miss baseball camps can take place at www.southernmissbaseballcamps.com. Walkups are welcome. The camps are open to any and all entrants limited only by number, age, grade level and/or gender.
