Several local teams competing in Thanksgiving tournaments

The week of Thanksgiving will be a busy time for several Washington Parish Basketball teams, as they will be competing in tournaments.
Eight combined Washington Parish teams are competing in four combined tournaments that run from St. Tammany Parish to Brookhaven, Miss.
Two boys’ teams, Bogalusa and Franklinton, are in the Titans Thanksgiving Classic that takes place at Lakeshore High School from Monday-Wednesday.
The tournament features five games. The first two days, contests are set to get under way every 90 minutes beginning at 2 p.m. with Wednesday’s games starting at 10 a.m. and are set again for every 90 minutes.
On Monday, Franklinton takes on Sophie B. Wright at 3:30 p.m. while Bogalusa is facing Lakeshore at 6:30 p.m.
In Tuesday’s action, Bogalusa plays Northshore at 3:30 p.m. and Franklinton will go against East St. John at 6:30 p.m.
The following day features the Lumberjacks playing against Chalmette at 11:30 a.m. and the Demons taking on Roosevelt out of Dallas, with tipoff at 2:30 p.m.
Just a short ride away is the Fontainebleau Turkey Shootout that runs from Monday-Wednesday.
The event features two local girls’ teams in Varnado and Bogalusa.
Six games are scheduled for each day with tip times every 75 minutes starting at 10 a.m.
On Monday, Varnado is playing Slidell at 1 p.m. while Bogalusa goes against Fontainebleau that evening at 5:30 p.m.
The next day has Bogalusa facing Carver at 1 p.m.
The tournament’s final day has Varnado and Bogalusa in back-to-back games. Varnado is going against Hammond at 4 p.m. and Bogalusa going against Slidell at 5:30 p.m.
In Baton Rouge is the 2017 Team Sportsplex Thanksgiving Classic, which will be played at The Dunham School on Roy Emerson Drive and at Team Sportsplex on Perkins Road.
The tournament has 38 combined games over four courts — three at the sportsplex and another at the school. Four blocks of games are starting every 90 minutes beginning at 2 p.m. on all four courts the first day. The same time format is being used the second day at the sportsplex and the high school will have three games starting at 2 p.m. the final day.
The event takes place Monday and Tuesday and features Pine’s boys and girls’ basketball teams.
In Monday’s action, Pine’s boys are playing two games and the girls are playing one. All three are at Team Sportsplex on Court 2.
The boys are facing The Christian Academy, which is formerly Christian Life Academy, at 2 p.m. and Mandeville at 6:30 p.m.
Pine’s girls are going against St. Amant at 8 p.m.
Pine’s boys and girls are playing a game each on Tuesday.
The girls are playing a 2 p.m. game at Dunham against Dunham. The boys are going against Family Christian Academy at the Team Sportsplex on Court 1 at 5 p.m.
Bowling Green’s boys and girls teams are competing in the Brookhaven Academy Thanksgiving Classic.
The competition has four games each day starting at 4 p.m. and running every 80 minutes. It takes place Monday and Tuesday and Bowling Green’s teams are playing on the second day.
Bowling Green’s girls and boys teams both play Columbia Academy. The girls face Columbia at 4 p.m. while the boys take the court at 5:20 p.m.
