Mt. Hermon hosting 3-day tournament

The Mt. Hermon School boys and girls Basketball Tournament will take place today, tomorrow and Saturday.
The single-elimination event features three games today and tomorrow that tip off at 5:30 p.m., 6:45 p.m. and 8 p.m., and two on Saturday. Saturday’s games are tournament championship contests.
Today’s opener is between Mt. Hermon and Pine in a girls game. The winner plays Holden tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. The winner of tomorrow’s game advances to Saturday’s 6 p.m. finals.
The other girls game is between Jewel Sumner and Kentwood. The victor of that game is in Saturday’s title contest.
The second game today, which is at 6:45 p.m., is a boys game between Mt. Hermon and Kentwood.
The winner plays Pine tomorrow at 8 p.m. and the winner of that game is going to the finals.
The second game tomorrow is a boys game that features Jewel Sumner and Holden at 6:45 p.m. The winner is in the finals.
The finals take place at 7:15 p.m.
In more tournament action this week, Franklinton’s boys basketball team is headed to the Covington High School Shootout, which is also taking place today, tomorrow and Saturday.
The Demons are playing at three different times over the three days of the event.
Franklinton opens today by competing the second game against Hammond. The contest tips off at 6:30 p.m.
Ponchatoula plays Glen Oaks at 5 p.m. and Lake Area New Tech faces Covington after Franklinton’s game.
Tomorrow, the Demons play Covington at 8 p.m.
They are preceded by Ponchatoula-Lake Area New Tech and Glen Oaks-Hammond. Those games set for 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., respectively.
Saturday is an afternoon slate of games.
The first is between Franklinton and Ponchatoula at 1:30 p.m.
Hammond-Lake Area New Tech and Covington-Glen Oaks follow at 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
