FHS’s Cooper top local finisher in cross country metro meet

Franklinton’s Taylor Cooper was the top local finisher in the Perfectly Fit Northshore Metro Cross Country Championships on Tuesday at St. Thomas Aquinas.
Cooper ran 65th. He finished the three miles in 20 minutes, 46 seconds. There were 141 participants.
St. Thomas Aquinas’ David Anthon won in 16:15, which was fewer than three seconds over Belle Chasse’s Alex Melcer.
Belle Chasse teammates Paul Mantzel and Alex Sucato ran third and fourth in 16:23 and 16:32. St. Thomas Aquinas’ Logan Lucas rounded out the top five with a 16:33 time
Bogalusa’s Clydeterrious Thompson ran 95th in 22:28 with Franklinton’s Titus Watts and Aden Hartzog finishing 100th and 105th, respectively, at 23:00 and 23:22.
Bogalusa’s Dustin Wager and Juan Martinez were 121st and 122nd at 25:11.18 and 25:11.70, Franklinton’s Brendan Spears finished 129th in 27:10. Teammates Seth Bascle and James Jones were 140th and 141st in 30:38 and 31:07.
Belle Chase captured the team competition with 26 points, as 12 teams qualified for points. St. Thomas Aquinas was second at 44 points, followed by Ponchatoula’s 107, Lakeshore’s 126 and Jewel Sumner’s 159. Franklinton’s 368 was 12th.
Up next, Bogalusa and Franklinton are in the state meet Tuesday, Nov. 14 at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.
