FHS girls competed in metro meet

Franklinton’s girls cross-country team competed in the Perfectly Fit Northshore Metro Cross Country Championships on Tuesday at St. Thomas Aquinas.
Alora Thomas was Franklinton’s top runner, finishing in 94th place with a field of 143. Thomas ran the three miles in 26 minutes, 38 seconds.
Academy of Sacred Heart of New Orleans’ Mary Nusloch won in 17:59.
St. Scholastica Academy’s Molly McHale was second in 18:44, followed by Christ Episcopal’s Svenya Stoyanoff’s 19:28, Blair Vignes’ 19:44 and Belle Chasse’s Jade Talazac’s 19:46.
Franklinton’s Emily Lopez was 106th at 28:00 with Kayleigh Penton taking 137th in 33:14. Dawn Kehoe and Shamya Hart were 139th and 140th in 34:55 and 35:09.
Academy of Sacred Heart won the team competition with 34 points, as 11 teams qualified for points. St. Thomas Aquinas was second with 60, followed by St. Scholastica Academy’s 74, Belle Chasse’s 113 and Cabrini rounded out the top five with 120. Franklinton was 11th with 342.
Bogalusa and Franklinton runners return to competition Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the state meet at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.
