Varnado hosting basketball jamboree tomorrow

Four Washington Parish LHSAA schools are playing in the Varnado High School Basketball Jamboree tomorrow, with plenty of action on tap.
The eight-team, eight-game event tips off at 5 p.m. and games are scheduled to begin within 20 minutes of each other.
Varnado’s girls face Franklinton in the opener with Pine’s boys going against Franklinton at 5:20 p.m.
The third game has Bogalusa’s girls and Pine, followed by Varnado’s boys vs. Bogalusa.
The fifth game, which is set for 6:20 p.m., is between Varnado’s girls and Pine, with Bogalusa’s boys and Franklinton to follow.
The 7 p.m. game is Bogalusa’s girls against Franklinton and the action concludes with Varnado’s boys and Pine at 7:20 p.m.
This year’s event features a pair of coaches in their first year with their teams.
Randall Ginn takes over the Bogalusa boys’ program while Jarvious Grayson is Bogalusa’s new girls’ coach.
Six of the eight teams made the playoffs in 2016.
Varnado’s boys made the regional round.
Franklinton and Bogalusa’s boys’ teams reached the first round of postseason.
Varnado, Franklinton and Pine’s girls made the opening round of the playoffs last season.
