Franklinton Demons solid in victory over Pearl River

Franklinton closed out the regular season with a 37-7 victory over Pearl River in a District 8-4A contest on the road.
The Demons led 23-0 at halftime. Pearl River broke up the shutout with about a minute left.
“We shut them down,” Franklinton coach Stephen Burris said. “Defensively, we totally dominated the game. Offensively, we had some wrinkles in, because of injuries, and we made it work.”
Trequan Charles threw for 147 yards on 9-of-15 passing and a touchdown. Charles also ran for 47 yards and two touchdowns.
Rakerian Conerly led the rushing attack with 88 yards and a touchdown.
Jasper Lasalle ran for 14 yards and a touchdown and threw for nine yards.
Tahj Magee caught two passes for 69 yards and a touchdown and ran for 29 yards.
Lagarian Bell made five receptions for 65 yards and Shayland Allen posted two catches for 20 yards.
Defensively, Lamount Harris huge game, finishing with 17 tackles, including one for a loss.
Carson Ragas made 12 tackles, including one behind the line, and James Bickham recorded 10 tackles.
Jacob Smith had nine tackles, with Jayonne Hart and Grant Thomas finishing with eight each.
The Demons tallied four sacks, two interceptions and a fumble recovery.
Hayden Cotton, Austin Thomassen, Harris and Ragas posted a sack each.
KeAndre Martin and Kian Conerly intercepted a pass each. Ragas recovered a fumble for the Demons. Rondrick King and Kian Conerly each broke up a pass.
Franklinton finished the regular season with a 3-7 record. The Demons are the 27th-seeded team in the Class 4A state playoffs and will face No. 6 Leesville on the road Friday at 7 p.m.
The Wampus Cats capped off a 9-1 regular season with a 56-34 win over St. Louis on Friday. The winner will face either No. 11 Rayne (7-2) or 22nd-seeded Helen Cox (5-5).
