Franklinton’s Cooper finishes 14th in District 8-4A Meet

SLIDELL — Franklinton’s Taylor Cooper was the Demons’ top finisher at the District 8-4A Meet that took place Wednesday at Fritchie Park in Slidell.
Cooper ran the three-mile race in 21 minutes, 2 seconds, to take 14th place.
Teammates Aden Hantzug and Titas Watts ran 25th and 26th with times of 23:03 and 23:21, respectively, and Raisean Hart was two spots behind with a time of 23:51.
Jacquan Brumfield took 29th after running the course in 24:08 and Brendan Spears and Sebastian Bascie were 32nd and 33rd.
The top 10 runners are all-district.
Lakeshore participants occupied the top four spots.
Brandon Shows won the event in 17:05, which was 40 seconds faster than teammate and runner-up Brian Bartee.
Jake Leyer’s 18:03 was third and Tyler Concienne was fourth at 19:02 in a field of 33.
Salmen’s Kendrick Demourelle was fifth in 19:12, followed by Lakeshore’s Brady Dayries (19:14), Salmen teammates Joey Smith (19:40), Mickyren Bently (19:46) and Troy Bertrand (19:52), and Lakeshore’s Stephen Sarveikis (20:02) to round out the top 10.
Lakeshore won the team portion of the meet with 16 points, with four teams qualifying for points.
Salmen was second at 43, followed by Pearl River at 91 and Franklinton with 97.
Up next is the Metro Meet that will take place at St. Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
