On Saturday, Oct. 28, at 11:10 p.m., the Bogalusa Police Department received a 911 call in reference to a shooting that had just occurred on Martin Luther King Drive near Charlevoix Street, according to Maj. Percy Knight, the public information officer for the BPD.

“According to witnesses, the victim and several other people were sitting around a fire when the suspect walked up and shot the victim one time,” Knight said. “The bullet traveled through the victim’s left hand and then into his abdomen.

“The victim was transported, by a passer-by’s vehicle, to Our Lady of the Angels Hospital for his injuries. The victim was later transported to University Medical Center in New Orleans, where he underwent surgery to remove the bullet. “Witnesses stated that the shooting stemmed from an earlier altercation between the victim and the suspect.”

Knight said that officers in the BPD’s Detective Division are looking at a person of interest in connection with the case.
