A Bogalusa business owner was arrested this week in connection with a theft charge, according to Maj. Percy Knight of the Bogalusa Police Department.
Knight, the public information officer for the BPD, said that on Tuesday, Oct. 31, the BPD was notified by a victim, who stated that someone had committed 15 unauthorized fraudulent transactions on her credit card, totaling in the amount of $5,085.75.
The victim stated that the credit card company reimbursed her $1,525.00, reducing the amount owed to $3,560.75, Knight said. The victim further stated that her credit statement indicated that the transactions were made by a local business, Bogalusa’s Best Electronics Repair.
Knight said that the victim had conducted business with Bogalusa’s Best Electronics Repair back on Oct. 5, 2017, and had made an authorized transaction of $60.00 on her credit card.
After an investigation was launched, officers interviewed the owner of Bogalusa’s Best Electronics Repair, Jeremy Woods, 36, of Bogalusa, Knight said. During the interview, Woods reportedly confessed that he had memorized the victim’s credit card information and used it to make the transactions.
Woods was placed under arrest and booked on the charge of theft between $1,000 and $5,000.
Knight commended Patrol Shift “B” and the Detective Division for solving this case in a timely manner.
