Bucs hosts Central Private for homecoming

Bowling Green School is hosting Central Private School for homecoming tonight, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
“They’re 4-2. They beat ASC (Amite School Center) last week,” Bowling Green coach David Currier said. “They’ve got a new coach and they’re playing well. They run the triple option offense. It’s kind of an old-school offense, but it’s tough to face when you don’t see it very often.
“I think we match up well with them depth-wise. We’ve moved the ball well last week, but not consistently. We need to slow them down and not give up the big play. We’ve slowed people down, but then we give up the big play.
“We need to cut down on mistakes. We had touchdowns called back because of penalties in the last two weeks. We have potential, but we need to play a complete game.”
Bowling Green enters tonight’s game with an 0-6 record, after a 42-20 setback to Centreville Academy last Friday.
Last week, the Buccaneers had plenty of rushing yards on offense.
Cameron Brock ran seven times for 106 yards and a 66-yard touchdown. Cameron Bell recorded 77 yards on 14 carries and ran in a two-point conversion during the third quarter. Larry Dillon posted eight carries for 74 yards and he had three catches for 33 yards. C.J. Smith, who is out this week with concussion symptoms, had a 20-yard touchdown run in the first quarter last week. Jace Schexnider scored on 3-yard run in last Friday’s game.
Defensively, Ben Bickham made nine tackles while Grady Ball posted seven.
Bowling Green won last year’s game, 18-0.
Central Private begins this week with a 4-2 record. Last week, the team defeated Amite School Center, 23-14.
