Franklinton came up a point short to Tylertown in Mississippi, 19-18, in Friday’s road game.
“We’re very inconsistent in every aspect of the game. We couldn’t kick an extra point because of a bad snap and we missed two two-point conversions,” Franklinton coach Stephen Burris said. “We threw a pick and we blew a coverage in the secondary. When you’re inconsistent those things are going to happen.
“The kids battled their tails off, but attention to detail is lacking and there’s no consistency because of it. It cost us a victory in the end.”
Trequan Charles ran 19 times for 11 yards and a touchdown. He also had one catch for 12 yards.
Tahj Magee was 8-for-18 for 105 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
The touchdown passes went to Lagarian Bell and Shayland Allen. Bell caught three passes for 47 yards. Allen posted a reception for 5 yards.
Rakerian Conerly pulled in two passes for 31 yards while running five times for 12 yards.
Steven Thompson finished with a catch for 10 yards.
LaMount Harris led the team in tackles with 16, including one for a loss. James Bickham posted 14 tackles and Willis Magee had 11. Harris and Bickham made 11 solo tackles each while Magee tallied nine individual tackles. Magee recovered a fumble.
Austin Thomassen tallied six tackles, while Grant Thomas and KeAndre Martin added five each. Thomas had one tackle for a loss, Martin caused a fumble and Ronderick King had a pass defensed.
Franklinton fell to 2-2 for the season. The Demons will be back in action Friday night when they travel to St. Thomas More. The Cougars are 3-1 this season. St. Thomas More lost to Baton Rouge Catholic last week. St. Thomas More is ranked No. 5 in Class 4A by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
