Bogalusa High School holding Football Mass Reunion

Bogalusa High School’s 1983 Football Alumni is hosting its inaugural Football Mass Reunion prior to the football team’s game against Loranger on Friday, Oct. 13.

All former Central Memorial High School and Bogalusa High School players, coaches and families are invited.

Prior to that night’s game, the group is having a pregame tailgate party at Lewis V. Murray Stadium from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. The game follows at 7 p.m.

The cost is $15 for adults and $10 for children. The fee includes the tailgate food and entry into the game. All proceeds benefit the Bogalusa High School football team.

Bogalusa High School football season tickets on sale

The Bogalusa High School Lumberjacks’ football program is offering season tickets to all regular season home games for this season.

The packages are on sale through Sept. 15 and are in three tiers.

The $30 Alumni Package includes the season ticket pass and VIP entrance near the South Gate, which is located at the gatehouse closest to Sears.

The $60 Hall of Fame Package includes the season ticket pass, reserved tailgating area at the South Gate and VIP entrance near the South Gate.

The $90 legacy package features two season tickets, Bogalusa High School Football Spirit T-shirt, reserved tailgating area at the north gate, which is the area in front of the field house.

Franklinton football tickets

Franklinton High School Demons season ticket sales are open to the public. Tickets are $50 per seat for the season and do not include scrimmages or playoff games.

Tickets can be purchased at the Franklinton High School office.

Muscular Dystrophy Benefit Golf Tournament next month

The Muscular Dystrophy Benefit Golf Tournament takes place Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Bogalusa Country Club.
The two-person scramble, which is hosted by the Bogalusa Firefighters Association, is $100 per golfer to enter.

Each player will be allowed one mulligan, which is included in the entry fee. No mulligans are allowed on any par-3 holes.

Team registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and tee time is set for 8 a.m.

Cash prizes will be awarded for first and second place finishers in the three flights.

There will also be an opportunity to win hole-in-one prizes.

Food and beverages will be provided and flights will be determined at the end of the tournament.

The event is limited to 27 teams.

Bogalusa Blues and Heritage Festival 5K Run is in September

The Bogalusa Blues and Heritage Festival 5K Run takes place Saturday, Sept. 30 at 8 a.m.

The cost to run in the race is $25. Raceday signups are from 7 a.m. until 7:45 a.m. on the day of the event.

Battle of the Businesses Softball Tournament

The Battle of the Businesses Softball Tournament, which is sponsored by the Franklinton Chamber of Commerce, takes place Saturday, Oct. 7.

The competition is at the Franklinton Girls’ Softball Fields at 200 Boat Ramp Road.

The cost is $200 per team and it starts at 8 a.m.

USM Showcase

The Southern Miss baseball program returns with camps that take place at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.

The Hitting under the Lights at The Pete Camp, running on four consecutive Monday nights from 6-8 p.m., beginning Sept. 25, and will consist of specific hitting mechanics, approach and other instruction related to the Southern Miss baseball hitting philosophy. This camp is designed for high school hitters to learn from current Golden Eagle coaches and players about the proper steps to being a successful hitter. It will include insurance and a t-shirt as players will benefit from learning proper techniques, mental process, and repetition.

The camp is open to those individuals entering ninth through 12th grade and the cost is $150 per camper or $125 per camper who is also enrolled in the Fall Instructional League Camp.

The Fall Showcase Camp is Sunday, Nov. 19 at noon with sign-in beginning at 11 a.m. It provides a great opportunity for players ranging from high school freshman to junior college sophomores (junior college freshmen must be academic qualifier). Participants will be given a chance to have their skills toned by college coaches receive specific instruction to their defensive position, speed training to improve their 60 time, as well as hitting at Pete Taylor Park. Any pitcher who is a dual player will be able to participate at both positions. Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt. Lunch will not be provided.

The camp will be limited to the first 100 applicants and the cost is $155 per camper.

All camps during the fall will take place at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.

Camp registration for all Southern Miss baseball camps can take place at www.southernmissbaseballcamps.com. Walkups are welcome. The camps are open to any and all entrants limited only by number, age, grade level and/or gender.
