Franklinton’s Tahj Magee and Rakerian Conerly had a huge night offensively and Lamount Harris was solid defensively in the Demons’ 26-8 victory over Fontainebleau at home Friday.
Magee completed 16 of his 25 pass attempts for 252 yards with four touchdowns. He also ran for 77 yards.
Conerly caught four passes for 152 yards (38 yards per reception) and three touchdowns. Conerly also ran four times for 22 yards.
Lagarian Bell finished with five catches for 50 yards and a touchdown.
Shayland Allen had two catches for 28 yards while Trequan Charles posted four receptions for 19 yards and Spencer Lambert added a catch for 3 yards.
Charles also had 20 rushing attempts for 41 yards.
Harris led the club in tackles with 12 — nine of them were solo, and 4.5 were for a loss. Harris also finished with 2.5 sacks, a hurry and a forced fumble.
James Bickham recorded nine tackles, while Rondrick King and Keandre Martin posted six each, Grant Thomas had five and Terion Partman added four.
Martin and Conerly intercepted a pass each. Bickham, Martin and Thomas caused a fumble each. Smith blocked a punt in the victory.
Kian Conerly and Willis Magee also each recovered a fumble.
“We’ve improved defensively a lot. Offensively, we looked great like we did against Covington in the first half, but we didn’t do anything in the second half,” Franklinton coach Stephen Burris said. “Defensively, we were much improved over the previous week. We tackled much better and we created turnovers.
“It was night and day compared to last week. Special teams, we still made some mistakes, but we showed improvement. We gave up too many yards on kickoffs, but we did well on punts and we’re struggling on snaps on extra points. Overall, the improvement is there.”
Franklinton improved to 1-1 overall, while Fontainebleau fell to 0-2.
The Demons are back in action Friday night, as they host Bogalusa with the teams competing for the Pine Burr Trophy.
Bogalusa enters the rivalry game with a 1-1 record. The Lumberjacks suffered a 51-20 loss to Chalmette on Friday.
