Ben’s Ford Christian School is back home tonight and will face off against Centreville Academy with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
The Eagles are attempting to get back in the win column after a 36-7 loss to Amite School Center last Friday. Ben’s Ford is 2-1 this season.
The Eagles’ points came on a fumble return for a score by Gage Tervalon, with Austin Stogner adding the extra point.
Centerville Academy won last year’s game, 33-6.
Centreville is trying to get back to the .500 mark and begins this week with a 1-2 record after falling to Parklane Academy, 35-16, last week.
“We’re trying to get back on track,” Centreville offensive coordinator Will McNabb said. “We’ve played a tough schedule so far. We’ve played two of the six biggest teams in MAIS (Parklane and Oak Forest Academy). Ben’s Ford can cause a lot of problems for you.
“Their quarterback (Tyler Winstead) is pretty good back there. He runs the ball pretty well. We’ve had problems stopping the run all year, so he’ll cause problems this week.”
Tyler Thomassie is Centerville’s quarterback, with Daniel Vine, Cade Hurst and Devon Parrish at running back.
McNabb said Vine is probably the fastest player on the team. This season he has 183 yards rushing and three touchdowns. McNabb said Hurst is a power runner. Parrish has run for 138 yards this year.
The receivers are Stone Reynolds and John Leyendecker.
The top defenders are defensive back Cody Brashier and defensive lineman B.J. Parent.
